“Birthing is never easy or without pain, be it a universe, a child, or a fresh start in life. Contraction precedes expansion. Darkness comes before dawn. Joy follows pain. This is the way of things.”
— John Mark Green
Individual Therapy
In working together you and I will collaborate on exploring what works best for you. No two people are the same, and no two experiences can be interchanged. I believe firmly that you are the expert in the room of your lived experience, and I am not there to override that expertise but to listen and partner with you on it. I do not take a manualized or uniform approach to work with any individual and am constantly learning from the unique experiences of clients. Our work together may start by focusing on building a trusting, comfortable, and safe relationship and space. This will provide us with a safe harbor to potentially explore deeper and stormier waters. And the possibility of reprieve by returning to when we need or may benefit from rest and replenishment. This exploration may entail holding space and curiosity for childhood relationships and experiences, overwhelming experiences, and the feelings and sensations of today. We may do this while also continuing to learn the language and story of our bodies and the felt sense. This will help us navigate challenging terrains without losing our way while within them. We will utilize body-oriented therapies and tools to help us do so in a way that feels ok and comfortable for you as an individual.
I firmly believe in the power of the inner healing intelligence inherent in all of us. My goal is to support a shared space in which we can work together to allow the inner healer to re-emerge and foster a path that is true to the individual. My primary therapeutic orientation and approaches are trauma-informed, attachment-based, and somatic-focused. I draw heavily from my current and ongoing training in Somatic Experiencing® and Psychedelic Harm Reduction and Integration, and also pull from and continue to pursue further training in Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and somatic and transpersonal modalities.
